About Us

Central Nottinghamshire Association for Mental Health is an 'independent sector' agency; one of over 200 local associations nationwide that are affiliated to National Mind.

We have three broad aims:

to promote the interests and rights of people with mental health difficulties in Central Nottinghamshire
to engage with other interested groups in regional, national and wider issues that influence the mental health of people within institutions or living in the community
to provide appropriate 'independent sector' services which contribute to the development of a comprehensive local mental health service.

Our Association (CNAMH) was formed in 1979 and its catchment area covers the districts of Ashfield and Mansfield. Residents in a few surrounding villages outside these boundaries also use our services, especially our day centres for older people with dementia.

Our affiliation status allows us to use the name 'Mind' and the dove logo which goes with it. We are not a branch of National Mind, which means that all our money is raised and spent locally. Increasingly our services are being purchased by local statutory authorities as part of service level agreements with them.
